How did we begin to make dog treats? Well, every couple of days, I would catch a glimpse of my neighbor’s LARGE yellow lab galloping by. His name, William. While he isn’t missing any meals at home, he certainly enjoys strolling through the neighborhood in search of some "treats". On one occasion, I’ve seen him galloping back home with a large loaf of crusty bread in his jaws. At times he would stop in my yard to enjoy his plunder before proceeding home. 

 

Now, I have an affinity for dogs and since we had already entertained the idea of trying a hand at dog treats, we decided to try a batch out on our four-legged neighbor. He loves them. Now, instead of galloping by, he casually walks to the front or back door, hoping to be rewarded! Since then, we've been developing and testing flavorful new combinations.

 

During the years that I'd been a pet owner, I'd performed extensive research on commercial dog food, trying to find the best brand. I was appalled once I became aware of the ingredients that went into commercial food; I never again purchased it. Today however, there are some brands that I would highly recommend for their commitment to using all natural, farm fresh, local and organic ingredients. Personally, I too am just as determined to provide nutritious treats for dogs. In our products, we only use what we would eat ourselves and that is saying a lot!
